Keane was out repeating the obvious again last night. The urge to surge will conveniently last 18 months. That allows Bush to declare that Iraq can't be finished under his watch and that it's someone else's problem.

If Iraq continues to go awry, I suspect that Republicans will secretly campaign to elect a Dem so as not to take any responsibility for their fiasco.

Iraq is all about domestic politics, oil and profiteering. Did Bush populate the gallery around Laura with long-suffering Iraqis during this time of clash of the civilizations? Nope. He talked about a woman who made a mint selling videos to anxiety-ridden parents. He also got in an advertisement for Disney.

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say.

You think Bush is incompetent as president in any capacity let alone 'getting the job done'? If so, you've already made your opinion on that abundantly clear over the past few years. So what are you contributing to the current discussion.

It seems you find the concept of a 'job being done' in Iraq disgusting? What do you perceive the job to be?

... they would like the US to stop 'getting the job done'

Who is they? You say Iraqis are 'they'. Some insurgent Shi'ite groups are made up of Iraqis, some Iraqis have joined the Sunni terrorist group Al-Quaida. They would agree with you. And probably others who are opposed to the current government of Iraq. The Iraqis who have supported the formation of a liberal democracy (The current government of Iraq), disagree with you.

"Perhaps they would like the US to stop 'getting the job done' before Iraq arrives at the destination to which we are taking them -- to hell on a one way ticket."

If the US stops here, we can predict a slaughter of unprecedented measure. You are not suggesting we do that, or are you?

"Baker came up with an alternative -- "

Great. That kind of thinking may help.

"but Bush does not need an alternative -- "

I haven't heard Bush say he is not open to alternative proposals.

"-- he alone knows what to do,"

He is Commander in Chief.
