Key elements of this problem are time and irreversibility. That hasn't been shown to be true. And considering that most of the major disaster scenarios occur in centuries not years, taking several years or a decade, making only small steps while evaluating the big ones (or starting the big ones very slowly) isn't wasting a lot of time. Would not having invaded Iraq in 2003 equaled "ignoring Saddam"? Yeah?! And your point is what? That not taking a certain proposed measure to combat a problem, doesn't mean you are ignoring the problem, or that absolutely nothing is being done.
