Ted, > Now let me welcome you to the real world......on your way to work tomorrow, take a detour through Santa Ana. Better yet, take a trip up to East LA this weekend.......its just a few miles up the 5. I promise you.....you won't see a lot of that opportunity about which you and Ayn fantasize.

a) I'm not a very big fan of Ayn Rand. But she does say a lot of things that ring true.

b) I guarantee you that every single Hispanic person living here has decided that the freedoms and opportunities here in America are much greater than that of where they came from.

c) Those who promote socialism as a way to care for those less fortunate really do not want to take any personal responsibility for helping out their neighbor in need. Instead, they want government to take responsibility for it, funded by taxes on those they can point to on TV and say, "They're too rich!" No personal sacrifice on their part. That's how liberals can tell themselves that they care and conservatives don't.

Better yet, take a trip up to East LA this weekend..

I have an inlaw who's family lived until recently in a local version of E. LA. The family lived in a shack in someone's backyard when they first got here. Got low paying jobs, bought a house in a lousy neighborhood. During one of the oil busts, when housing prices collapsed, they bought 3 more houses on their street - paid them off from the rents. Sold all four houses last year for $160K each. They spent about one of those four checks on a brand new house farther out in a decent neighborhood and have the rest to invest now.

Work even at a low wage, save and invest over a long time, you can better yourself. Thats the truth.
