Actually the speculation is that you are a young kid who has grown up in a very sheltered mono-cultural setting and hasn't had any experience that would cause him to develop a broader perspective on humanity.

I don't personally believe that. You seem like a guy who follows the trends and tries to stay ahead of them... to a fault, and so you go off the deep end of whatever you imagine the crest of culture to be.

I see very little if any difference in moderate views of conservatives and liberals among educated people. In fact, a well balanced person (or healthy society) should seek to conserve productive and beneficial traditions, while maintaining a liberal and open mind for renewal through innovation, brought on by ever changing circumstances. Its simple adaptive conduct with respect to a healthy environment.

It has been my observation that the vast majority, I estimate 98%, gravitate to the views of the group that nurtures them most in their own culture. The fundamentally important need for belongingness trumps almost all other social drives. Identifying with and loyalty to group is what defines community.

Loyalty to tribe, religion, race, national origin, extreme liberal chaos, extreme oppressive totalitarianism, etc. can lead to a false sense of devotion to the banners of one group identity or another. People of normal intelligence often compromise reason and a principled conscience for fear of being diminished or outcast all together.

It is this type of commitment to the external formulations of order that tends toward corruption (extremism). The cost is a principled identity of self. Bullies who fear loss of status or power, new members, or those barely in touch as a community member, who are seeking validation are the most likely to lean furthest to extremes.

Extremism is the plague of our generation. You are infected. Until or unless you clean up your act, you are stuck with who you are, right where you are... as brianthebigot. That's sad but true.
