I saw the movie you mention, it was very moving, indeed.

Lawyers and doctors don't universally make huge incomes. I believe the average annual compensation for a lawyer working solo or in a small firm is less that electrical engineers make, and no benefits, either.

If I recall correctly, the average annual compensation for a solo lawyer is less than $100,000.

But that's not what you'd think if all you knew about the practice of law was what you saw in TV. The high-paid partners in the law factories skew the numbers because they get a share of every dollar the lowly associates bill. But those associates bill 2400 hrs/year. There's no way to bill 2400 hours a year and have a life.

As for physicians, there are also a lot of physicians who don't make hundreds of thousands a year, much less millions.

If you want to make a lot of money, become a dentist! Seriously.
