<<If Clinton had been running as a great family man he would have been crushed.>> For sure. It would have been recognized immediately as "barf bag" Madison Avenue BS.
i remembered the Kerry that was the selected spokeperson for the VVAW( because they knew his Bostonian Upper Class manners and accent would get through, he had not won a popularity contest with the VVAW to get to sit before congress that is for sure.)
Well anyway, i remembered THAT Kerry, so the Kerry that came out in the Primaries was plain revolting to me.
My mind screamed out "PHONY BASTARD!".Max
p.s. Because of the sheer horror of Bush being re-elected i confess i voted for Kerry, but i can also say, i felt like barfing on my ballot when i did so.(i live where we actually have paper ballots, and one actually goes into a booth, pulls the curtain and picks up a pencil marks the ballot and then proceeds to drop the ballot into a wooden box--the absolute best system in the world.) Actually, Kerry won big in Iowa partly because Green Beret Jim Rassman appeared willing to tell the story of how Kerry saved his life in combat. That proved to Kerry and his people that the combat hero angle would make up for his past dovishness and enable him to take on the "war president" Bush, who had ironically dodged the draft and gone AWOl from the Air Guard in 1971, then lied ab out it in his autobiography.

I don't think Kerry changed at all. In fact I think a lot of democrats are almost as unfair toward Kerry as the Republicans are, and I don't understand why. But in any case, this has driven Kerry out of the race, something we may all regret unless Gore runs.

The real liar about his military record was not Kerry, not at all. It was Bush. Kerry has never lied about his combat record in any way, shape or form. Even his Cambodia speech story is proven fact. He was in Cambodia or right on the border exactly when he said he was.
