Many of the major papers have been around for a long time. They used to be more conservative- if you go back and look in their archives you will notice a constant movement to the left- as the population moves that way and formerly far left ideas become mainstream (like equal pay and equal rights for blacks, women, gays, whatever).

I think boutique outlets like your white supremacist paper are different than a longstanding media outlet with a history. Their purpose it to attact people with that bias, rather than to report news. That's not exactly the sort of MSM I had in mind when I wrote my post. As I said a while ago, I guess any discussion of media probably ought to start with exactly what kind of media you are speaking about. I'm thinking of large historic media outlets that are not catering to a special interest.
