We are going to find out in this election just how much the Republican party is controlled by Social Conservatives. IE: Evangelical Christians. I think it depends on the quality of the candidate offered. McCain was too combative about it at a time when a good alternative, Bush, was available.

I think the conservative voters will go with Giuliani over any Social Conservative candidate on the horizon. For instance, I think he can beat the best one they have, Romney. The others will not generate much traction, IMO.
