Items #2-4 will come out in spades in a general campaign, and I just don't see Rudy handling them with much aplomb. Between that and McCain immolating himself over Iraq, the Republicans are not off to a grand start for 2008.

I was living in New York for most of Giuliani's tenure as mayor, and I thought he was just terrible. He seemed to manage by holding press conferences and slamming people. He was combative, divisive, and lacking in good ideas of his own.

On the other hand, Bloomberg is getting very high marks from my New York friends. Even the most liberal ones say he is doing a great job. He would probably make a good President.
