Karen, thanks for that link. It took me back to the mid 60's when we lived for a little over a year in Durango. I had a small advertising business there and we barely eked out a living, but the living was wonderful. Out two kids were pre-school, so as time permitted, we got out and saw the sights, numerous as they were. I had an arrangement with a friend who painted the western scene in his Texas studio. I took hundreds of reference photos for him and he paid me to get out and do that. We always had a reason to see the back country. That Million Dollar Highway was always a spectacular drive, except in winter, when we avoided it. All of that country can be challenging in winter.
