If your going to count the British basketball league then you have to count all the minor league baseball teams in the US, and all the other minor or secondary leagues such as the Arena Football League, and the NBDL, IBL, ABA, WNBA, AHL, ECHL, UHL, CHL, and MISL. Compare apples to apples, either your talking about major leagues (in which case I doubt British basketball leagues cut it) or your talking about any league that has pro players (in which case their are a huge number of teams in America, and multiple leagues in each sport).

I bet there is a professional rugby league as well as the one you cited.

I mentioned professional leagues in both Rugby League, and Rugby Union, but I don't think either of them is up to the major league standards of say the NFL, NBA, or the Premier League.
