"the general media already broke the story awhile back that the IEDs that are killing most of our soldiers are shaped charges that include technology that was traced back to the Iranians."

How about a credible non-rightwing link that isn't just some statement from the Bushies without corroboration? Remember the LIES they used to get us into Iraq? Are you falling for the EXACT SAME predictable crap from the warmongers?

"Anyone who thinks Iran is NOT meddling in Iraq has to really be blind and ignorant of Middle East politics."

Of course they are. Until we waltzed in, they were bordered by two countries that hated their guts, Iraq and Afghanistan. Not to mention the ever present threat of us getting annoyed with them. Now Iraq is gone, Afghanistan is gone, and we are much diminished in what we can threaten with. Short of going thermonuclear, we have limited options. Yeah, we can bomb them in a variety of ways. We can knock out some of their missiles. But we have 150k troops and another 150k contractors in a pretty vulnerable position.

I leave you with a question. Say we get a Tonkin Gulf. We do something aggressive, doesn't matter what really, but it would involve trying to take out as many rocket launchers as possible. If the Iranians have half the brains God gave a rubber frog, much of Iraq would go up as Shiites all over had an armed convulsion. Iran would send as many armed personnel across the border. Yeah, we would have air superiority, but the ground could be quite different. Remember the anti-tank weapons that were used in Lebanon? Do you know that the armor on the Merkava is considered to be in the same league as our Abrams? Now where do you think those anti-tank weapons came from?

Umm, sorry, those weren't the questions I had in mind for you. Anyway, Iran would likely come across the border and with only about 80k or so effectives, we wouldn't be able to stop them. Our armor would be at serious risk and, although we should be able to out-fight them man for man, we don't have that many men. So we could very well have several hundred thousand killed or captured in a very short period of time.

So what do we do then?

Chris, the general media already broke the story awhile back that the IEDs that are killing most of our soldiers are shaped charges that include technology that was traced back to the Iranians. If I remember correctly, it was British intelligence that found that out.

Anyone who thinks Iran is NOT meddling in Iraq has to really be blind and ignorant of Middle East politics. This is a wet dream come true for Iran. It's their day in the sun. Of course, they are meddling in Iraq. They are about to have two Irans.

The first paragraph is your main proof for the claim Iranians are harming American interests in Iraq? Weapons? Almost any arms dealer will sell Iraqis weapons, regardless of the nationality of the dealer, and regardless of the origin of the weapon.

Bush says repeatedly that Iranians are hurting US interests in Iraq. Where is the proof? Saying that the insurgents use weapons which probably were made in Iran is pretty flimsy if that is all there is. For all we know an Egyptian arms dealer bought them in Iran, drove them across the border, and sold them to Iraqi insurgents for a handsome profit.

Does that transaction constitute Iranian meddling in Iraq?
