You would think we were drilling for ore or trying to locate a conventional reservoir.

That was exactly my thought. You would think he was worried about a 15,000 ft duster rather than known oil sands deposits approx 250m below the surface.

My understanding is that the core hole drilling is to define the dimensions and saturation of the deposit so that the production wells can be positioned for maximum recovery.

Meta (or any other CLL fan),

Is this the standard accepted method of proceeding in developing a (shallow) oil sands patch (by not publishing core drill hole results)? And, if so, name two other companies that are proceeding this way?

Now what is hard or impossible about responding to that?
