I agree with the gist of those articles that (a) Iranians are more pro-US and Iran is MUSCH more democratic than every country in the middles east, barring Israel.

I've agreed that Iranians on the whole are, on the whole, pro-US. You say "more pro-US", but you don't complete your thought with the "than" part and I wonder, why didn't ST complete his sentence? More than pro-US than who, ST? North Koreans? The Taliban?

But saying that Iran is much more democratic than every country in the ME except for Israel is like saying that a man who is only wearing a pair of socks is very, very well dressed compared to someone who is stark naked.

It is a democracy in name only. One in which the Mad Mullahs can strike viable candidates with a stroke of the pen. By your standards, Iraq under Saddam was a democracy, too.

Face it, Iran under the MadMullahs is oppressive, religiously intolerant, sexist, a serious violator of the most basic human rights, a promoter of terror, and no democratic oasis of liberty.
