I would like to talk to you a little bit about what the result is of the feelings these men carry with them after coming back from Vietnam. The country doesn't know it yet, but it has created a monster, a monster in the form of millions of men who have been taught to deal and to trade in violence, and who are given the chance to die for the biggest nothing in history; men who have returned With a sense of anger and a sense of betrayal which no one has yet grasped. Ilaine, you're so outraged. You claim that you; "did not impugn Kerry's war record..." and then you claim that I; viciously attack[ed] the war records of men [I] never served with.." Are you on drugs? I can say, without question, that in our conversations on this issue I've never "viciously attacked" the war records of the Swift Boat veterans. Let's see you post the "vicious attack," or any attack. Where do you come up with such tripe? On the other hand, did you impugn Kerry's war record? The Swift Boat veterans made their attack on his war record one of the centerpieces of their appearances and book. Did he earn his medals? Was there any shooting when he got a bronze star? Was he wounded three times? Did he shoot a boy in the back when he got his silver star? You praise their accuracy and then you say "Kerry has nobody to blame but himself for getting "outed" for resume-padding." And here you talk about "puffing," "resume-padding" and "[lying} about ... his service." Do you think you meant to imply he got outed for padding his war record? Huh, do ya?
