The crux of the question is... does human activity effect the environment?

The "climate doubters" can probably rest easy now that China is throwing so much crap into the atmosphere that we may indeed go back to the "global dimming" scene.

So it looks as if we will have to wait until things really screw up badly before any real corrective action is taken.

Never mind all the evidence given out recently by the IPCC et al, enough evidence that have been collected by navigation officers aboard commercial shipping gathered over the 20th century from simple visual observations. Industrial activity by humans caused global dimming.

The destruction of the ozone layer should have been enough of a warning to the climate change doubters foolish instance to "prove it". Human activity does effect the climate. We need to be (and I'll use a nice corporate word for you here) proactive in anticipating the effect of human industrial activity.

I'll finish on that graph of the carbon dioxide measurements taken in Christmas Island while you ponder the facts...

I like this thread; but let's cut to the chase here ..

We can go 'round and round' as to the science, but
bottom line there's some major long term policy
decisions to be made here ..

I'm in the 'do nothing' camp ..

For those that are in the 'do something' camp;
just what exactly should we be doing/contemplating
to mitigate GW effects and what are the risks of
unintended consequences from engaging in such
activities ??

Triff ..
