I don't agree. I know a lot of people for whom their religion is an important, and positive influence in their lives. I have no desire to take that away from them.

There are days when I think the same thing. On the one hand, the fanatics in all the religions sure do bring alot of hatred and pain to the common folk. On the other hand, religion can be a powerful force for creating societies that work really well. When religion is at its best, it can create rules by which people live that fill in the gaps where governmental laws leave off. When it's at its worst, you get Islamofascist terrorism or Evangelical warmongering or Jewish settlements.
