Well, to be fair, the ethnic groups in Yugoslavia are Catholic vs. Orthodox vs. Muslim, while the ethnic groups in Iraq are Muslim vs. Muslim vs. Muslim. The Catholics and Orthodox get along pretty well for the past few hundred years. Muslims vs. the rest of the world is sort of newish, when you get right down to it. Historically, for example, the Ottomans went around conquering everybody, Muslim and non-Muslim, but they were powerful and could do it, and then established their own sort of Imperial pax. The Muslim vs. Muslim vs. Muslim of today is between people with very little actual power just killing for the sake of killing, with no attainable goals in sight.
