There could be other alternatives, like exempting all Canadians from needing a passport I suppose. That seems to be what you are suggesting? I remember a couple of articles that were posted here a few years ago that outlined the lax immigration laws in Canada and how that could become a problem for the U.S. I just heard Michael Chertoff mention that only 1% of illegals come across our northern border but I don't think you are going to convince many U.S. citizens that we shouldn't adopt these new rules just because that number is small. Getting and having a passport is no big deal. I don't understand what you are so upset about. Change is difficult for people, but this is not like the U.S. is asking that every visitor have a chip implant or something personally invasive. I just don't understand the angst. I even had a pm from someone who has 3 passports, and uses the appropriate one depending on destination. He doesn't have a problem with that and Canadians and Americans shouldn't either. I guess the only choice is to either get one or stay home. Or we could make Canada our 51st state. -gg-
