Kuwait is only separate from Iraq because of a random line drawn by British occupiers. If not for the oil, the local yokels would not have much going for it. I'm not arguing that it's a slam dunk case, but there's more in favour of it than for China to take possession of Taiwan, which a lot of people seem to think is reasonable.

Since the UN defeated Saddam, it would have been quite reasonable for the UN to take possession by right of conquest of both Iraq and Kuwait. That's how life has always gone.
