I think Saddam was made more than accountable for his invasion of Kuwait, we reduced his country to ruble with all the sanctions we placed on the country. The whole infrastructure was practically destroyed, that's why he was toppled so easily.
We never should have invaded, it was not a benefit to the United States at all.
