For those of you cooking dinner on V-day, try making a side dish of heart shaped pasta.

I ordered teas as a V gift for my husband, since that's one of his favorite treats (and I already gave him single malt scotches for his birthday).

I ordered the rose petal tea and the Valentine's Day tea for my kids. Sounded fun.

If you are in to jasmine tea, Harneys in our opinion has the best- it's the dragon pearl:

we've tried every jasmine tea at harneys, republic of tea, adagio, and several other places, and this dragon pearl is just fantastic. My husband likes to drink it with the loose tea leaves in his cup. I prefer it brewed in a more conservative manner :-)

Ps- if you've never tried silver tips they are a real taste treat, imo.

Good morning! I slept 11 hours last night without coughing but once. Am new person. Nasty virus. Hope you are doing better!!!!

Every Valentine's Day I made these tea cakes using a heart shaped cutter for the boys.

My Mama's Teacakes

1/2 c butter or margarine (I always use butter in baking- I think it makes a huge difference in taste)
1 egg, well beaten
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 c sugar
1/4 c. milk
2 1/2 c flour

Cream butter and sugar, add egg, milk and vanilla. Mix well. Sift dry ingredients (are they kidding? never)and add. Turn out on lightly floured surface and form into ball. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle sugar over dough and roll lightly. Cut with cookie cutter and bake on ungreased sheet at 375 for about ten minutes. This dough handles better if chilled. (I divide it in half and chill for this reason).
I ice them with pink frosting.
