If Giuliani is the best the Republicans have in 2008, then they are in big trouble. Giuliani will split the Republican party and cause a 3rd party conservative to run. One of the things the Democrats have going for them in 2008 is that the Republicans do not have a particularily strong candidate.

Just wait until conservative America learns that Giuliani is pro gun control, pro choice and in favor of gay rights. Yeah, that's going to go over like a lead ballon in conservative regions. Conservative Republicans will either stay home with Giuliani on the ticket or vote 3rd party.

All the Dems need is one good sized red state and they win in 2008.

Here's why the Republicans have big problems with their right flank in 2008:

"I would not vote for John McCain under any circumstances," Dobson said last month on KCBI, a Dallas Christian radio station. "I pray that we won't get stuck with him."

That is because McCain is not conservative enough for the religious right. Guiliani is way more liberal than McCain and will not garner any support amongst the religious right.

The GOPs two most likely candidates in 2008 are Guiliani and McCain and neither appeal the Republican base. If either Guiliani or McCain squeek by and win the nomination in 2008 there will be mass abandonments of the GOP ticket from rightwingers, who will stay home or vote 3rd party. It could be a cake walk for the Democrats.
