If this article is on the mark we can surely expect to see China buying up companies with proven uranium reserves.

One obvious problem with this simplistic analysis is that it considers only the fuel component of the cost of generating electric power. The other two big issues with nuclear power are the plant cost, which I think is much higher (per MW of capacity) than for hydrocarbons, and the waste disposal cost, which remains rather uncertain I think. I'm leaving out environmental cost - the risks and effects of uranium, oil/gas, and coal are so different and hard to quantify that a comparison becomes highly problematic.

Thanks for posting that.

OT/I still like the impact on costs the Chinese will have on solar. I'm biased, I graduated from a 6 month course run by Siemens on designing and installing solar systems. Considering a solar panel has an RLI of 35 years (they're generally guaranteed not to lose 90-95% of their rated output) I have always thought a portfolio of solar power plants (on the tops of building roofs, as one Japanese trading house has done)could be a nice way to add to the RLI of one's energy portfolio. Certainly with most conventional oil and gas RLIs at 8-12 years, it is something to be aware of. A nice group of uranium plays can also be a good portfolio RLI boost.
