What I saw was a rather strange opinion I've seen before, and out of politeness, since I am on Lindy's thread, I didn't want to be too aggressive. This is, after all, not an open thread, and I came here only to speak to one rather serious problem- the fact that some people in debate like to call other people names, and traitor, imo, is one of the worst of the names. You have mistaken my politeness, and my disinclination to get in to a major discussion over an issue here, for something else. That's too bad, but there's little I can do about it. We could get in to the fact that career CIA officers differed over intelligence estimates and that some resigned over what the Bush administration insisted upon- massaging of data, failure to allow for dissent. We could go over the pressure put on intelligence agencies by the Bush administration. Perhaps Nadine discounts all that, or perhaps she simply doesn't believe it, but whatever her conclusion, it's always been clear to me that no matter what I say, and no matter what facts I bring up, Nadine's mind won't change. If you care to come over to the FADG I would love to regale you with much minutiae about the CIA which I have noted over the last several years. We could even discuss some of the books that have touched on the intelligence problems- I found Fiasco interesting, and I plan to start Nemesis tomorrow. At any rate, should you really be interested in actual facts, join me on FADG. If you just want to attack me personally as some sort of "typical" bugaboo, we can leave it at what you've already written. We can start by discussing this, if you like:foreignaffairs.org I'll post it over there. Hope to see you soon.
