I opened up my new Corsair 8 GB USB flash Voyager on Friday. I had some files at work that needed to be at home.

The 1.47 GB copied in around 30-35 minutes. I was thinking of using one of these to hold a virtual disk image. If I could wait the 1 1/2 for the image file to load it might be worth the test.

FWIW if it had been writing at the rated 19 Mbps it should have completed the task in 10.563 minutes.

I don't see flash memory eliminating the need for hard disks or other magnetic media too soon.
