The Lexar Lightning is rated at 30 MB/s read and 21 MB/s write in the 4GB model. That is starting to get there.

I would say in 5 years, we will see disks, DV, CD/DVD disappear in all new portable and movable gears. Disks and tapes will only be left for PCs, servers, and stations usage.
