This is is the primary meaning: an indefinite usually extended expanse of land : REGION <miles of open country> Study it closely. C-L-O-S-E-L-Y. The meaning is the same as one would use when stating "Let's take a ride into the country Sunday" or "I love the country air". It denotes a bit of a rural setting, and that is it. What does that meaning have to do with Palestine as a "country", i.e., a political entity, which is the only meaning that made sense in the context in which it was used and the meaning on which Nadine barbequed you?
