I dont get the argument. IMO, jews are an ethnic group, composed of many mixed ethnic groups with a common religion (divided into 3 or 4 subdvisions) and a way of looking at life thats similar among all of the religious, ethnic and racial components. Real conversions are rare as nadine says, particularly among the orthodox, but one should keep in mind that any child born of a jewish mother is considered jewish and even if praciticing another faith can always switch back to judaism. If you dont get it, it is probably because you are not Jewish and cant understand complexity as einstein did. (ggg). Iranian jews i have met are particularly obnoxions---is this because they are jewish or persian or is the mix deadly?? again (ggg)

My perspective is that my sons, who aren't mine, would be considered Jewish by a Hitler. So would my daughter, altho by Orthodox and Conservative standards, she isn't. Cuz her mother wasn't. Except by ingestion. Which doesn't count in
Temple, but felt very nice. In a spiritual sort of way.
