Jim, > Intel had been a winner up until 2001.

Really? Is that why you had a McPanic attack and missed most of the run-up from 1999 to 2000 before the dot-com bust?

Oh come on, you know AMD tanks ASP to gain market share when they know they can't win on performance. They did it back in 2001, and they did it again in 2006. Every time they chase after unit share numbers, they essentially slash their own wrists.

Even you with a long history of "Anything But Intel" should realize that AMD only brags about unit share when they have it. Meanwhile, the analysts aren't impressed, except those who still believe all the B.S. coming out of AMD, such as "Vista runs better on AMD" or "AMD has the lead in performance/watt", etc.

So AMD had a run-up in 2005-2006 thanks to Opteron. Think Barcelona stands a chance? It better, since Opteron is AMD's only hope for survivability.

Both of those links give me quotes and charts for AMD.

Edit - Not for AMD, but for whatever quote I last looked at. I just brought up a quote for INTC, and now when I follow your link I get INTC's quote.
