Ten,
Step back and see the whole enchilada. Sure, Intel and AMD are having their own little war but Wall Street doesn't seem to like Intel that much even when the are winning. You'd think Wall street would embrace Intel right now. No cigar. Intel is selling for 3.5 times less than it's all time high. Meawhile the DOW making all time highs.
Heck. boring Dry Bulk shipping companies have doubled in the last 4 months. There is action out there. It's not chips though despite their own little war.

If Intel can't make a move when they have better process and faster chips I'd say that's pretty significant. Even with Bark-a-loner an unknown, maybe AMD has a better chance at an upmove from here but it's hard to get excited over either.

RE:"Really? Is that why you had a McPanic attack"

If I'd stayed out after the McPanic thing I'd be a lot better off than I am now in Intel. But you guys shamed me into buying some back. Thank goodness my retirement isn't dependent on Intel stock, whew.

I looked back. Intel is NOW less than 1/2 what it was at the McFlynch(TM PR Engel) price back in '99. I should have stayed flynched. LOL

Meanwhile, I read this board. Much of what DougSF40, you and others say is true. Intel seems to have the edge on AMD right now, yet the Intels stock is 20 and change. I recall the all time high for Intel being about 75? You work you tail off all day at Intel and your stock goes no where. Must be frustrating.

Re: So AMD had a run-up in 2005-2006 thanks to Opteron

But its technology development was such that it would have been late 2003 to 2006 if not for Intel's extortion, market rigging, and general criminal behavior. An AMD that had been permitted access to markets (you know, if they were operating in a free, capitalist market) would currently be sitting on a much more solid financial base.

Soprano Garbage Hauling has had successes a lot like Intel's and for exactly the same reasons.

Just to make clear how we all got to where we are today.
