What valid argument would he have against it?

That there is no need for new taxes, since government revenue is climbing faster than spending and the budget is projected to be balanced soon -- due to the capital gains tax cuts that he passed.

In 1943 US gov't spending was 243% of received revenues. Should we have surrendered to the Germans and Japanese?
