What if Intel someday decides to cut the bloat and streamline operations instead of just cutting margins?

Did you miss the layoff of 10,000 people at Intel? What did it do for their margins? Their last prediction was they would decline further.

It's not the only pathway. The other path is holding a significant performance lead over Intel in roughly three out of every four years.

The other pathway does not appear to be open at this time, so to move forward, AMD has to move through the one that is open - higher volume.

BTW, the socket wins will help help in the future, when the other path (better performance competitiveness) is opened, which will hopefully be with the K8L line of processors.
