Ronnie Raygun cut n' ran from Lebanon. It was a wise thing, not to get us further involved in that potential quagmire. Then, he invaded Grenada to change the subject and make the hawks happy.

Not our problem. We shouldn't have been IN Lebanon, and Ronnie KNEW it. Now, we've got a similar civil war going in Iraq, and we're stuck right in the middle of it.

Keeping our marines out of these countries is a low tech, inexpensive way to avoid the problem, too. What was the compelling reason for being in those two places??

A few years ago I met a man who was one of the handful of survivors in Beirut. He was in a helicopter that was just touching down on the roof of the building. The helicopter went straight down thru the collapsing rubble, rotors still turning. I think he said the only survivors were those within the helicopter.

Nadine, you should get you head out of you back side. If you really care about Lebanon not being a failed state, you could have rallied the Israeli government not wage war on Lebanon. That was not the first time that Hizbo kidnaps soldiers. Usually when the kidnapping occurs, Israel bombs the electrical station, the water tower and few side roads. Couple of days later, they sit down and negotiate the release of the kidnapped soldiers. Bob's your uncle. Last July, Israel went bananas and wage a full fledge war. By Israel not getting rid of Hizbo, hizbo is stronger than ever. Why? Because they resisted the ME Superpower and survived. For that, Lebanon is a failed state today. However, the 31 days was nothing but dress rehearsal, Israel showed its weakness and also showed the world how Israel snaps it fingers the US comes running. The US in Iraq is not showing and strength either.
