Crime wise, the US is like a third world country.

What does that mean? Third world, and non-third world countries each have vastly different crime rates, there is no simple third world rate to contrast to "1st world" rates.

You want to bet? As economic disparity decreases and education increases, there is less crime in a society. People on this thread laugh and condemn AA but the national crime rate began to decline starting in the 1980s as AA kicked in. It declined even faster under Bill Clinton during which the nation experienced undue prosperity where the unemployment rate dropped to new lows, and more people went off welfare than ever before. Under Bush whose emphasize has been the wealthy and where wages have not keep up with inflation, the crime rate has started to go up.

Bottomline: the crime rate in the US looks more like an El Salvador than Germany. In fact there is a ruthless gang in El Salvador that has set up branch operations in the U.S. They suspected business would be good. They were not disappointed.

Also crime in the US has generally been going down for decades, at the same time as the number of guns has greatly increased. Meanwhile crime in a number of European countries that control guns to a greater extent has gone up, or not gone down as much.

Dude, check the statistics........crime started going back up in 2002 or 2003. I don't think there is any aspect of our society that hasn't worsened since Bush took over.

To the extent that we still have a high crime rate, that is a justification for private ownership of guns, as they can be used to protect against crime.

You're full of horse puckey. We have a high crime rate because there are too many guns.
