Russia has Europe by the balls when it comes to natural gas and crude supplies. There is nothing they can do to stand up to Russia, because Russia can bring their economies to a halt.

Throughout history, the culture that brings the greatest technology wins the day, in spite of the empires or societies currently commanding dominance. The USA was the unquestioned premier in education and development of technology over the last hundred years or so. In the past few decades, however, we have had to admit that our kids are not competitive in math, science, and technology and that other cultures are kicking our butts, even Bush has complained about it. We don't even fund gifted and talented programs where I live. All the money goes to make sure no body gets left behind. Look at the countries I mentioned in the last post (China, India, Iran, Russia) and ask yourself if they are doing the same thing. Europe is dependent now on the resources from those countries, so don't look to Europe for support.
