That's a glittering generality right out of Propaganda 101.

These threads are the home of glittering generalities. :>) The leaders of the "greens" have learned to hide it, but it comes directly out at times. You will see it in the Malthusian calls for a world-wide reduction in population.

Let's say you posting with someone here who is against an increase in energy use, as exemplified by a call for a reduction in the use of coal, oil, gas and nuclear as heat sources for power generation. Their answer to our energy use is that it can be solved by the use of sunbeams and windmills, with a corresponding reduction in the use of power by "conservation."

You know that this person is either kidding himself, or has an agenda requiring a drastic reduction in the use of power. Which means cutting production. No other way out.

Beware of people who come at you with a:

"We have an energy problem!"

"You must sacrifice!"

"I will lead you!"

Solution.

The leaders of these positions are usually a combination of refugee Socialists from the 60's who are using this issue as a way to seize power, and/or Malthusians who believe that mankind is evil and is ruining the planet.

The followers are well meaning people who have been seduced into supporting these agendas in the belief that we really have major ecological problems that technology cannot solve, or that "Big Business" is evil, or that we are being overpopulated, or believe in any number of other leftest agendas that fit with this movement.
