Like I told you earlier, it's really complicated. I don't know that you are gonna get all the answers from us; it would be better to read a book. I'd suggest Flannery's; not only more depth than Gore, but isn't the political lightening rod. Maybe get it from your library. Or mine; I gave them a copy. But you want a college course in a few posts from us, and it really won't work too well....it takes a book.

All sorts of things caused cycles. Ice dam bursting changed the drainage patterns in /North America...

It takes about 2 Sverdrups of fresh water to slow down or stop the Gulf Stream, Sverdrup is a flow of 1.3 million cubic yards/sec. 13 K years ago, an ice dam broke and shifted some North American river drainage from the Miss. to the St Lawrence. Enuf to dilute the saline/ temperature pump driving the Gulf Stream, and stop it. Which normally keeps London, as far north as Anchorage, temperate.
Called the Younger Dryas.
8K years ago, an ice dam broke going into Hudson Bay. Similar results.

Don't listen to Wharf Rat he gets all his information from a book.

Maurice Winn actually lives in the place being supposedly devastated by Wharf's books and Maurice could not confirm it with years of direct observation.

It's all just a cycle relax... The lab coat clerics and those seeking to imprint a collective guilt are just like politicos everywhere.

Al Gore is poised and ready to save the day and a whole line of people are ready to reap the rewards while sucking his fingers.
