Just ran across an interesting factoid. Carter promised to normalize relations with Vietnam during his presidential campaign, but politically was unable to deliver because the Vietnamese held out for the economic aid that Nixon and Kissinger had promised.

Source: Refugees and Rhetoric, William Shawcross, Foreign Policy No. 36 (Autumn, 1979), pp. 3-11

Since Carter had a Democrat House and Senate, it's his own party that wouldn't deliver, no surprise there.

Let them eat cake, and all that.

We have great economic opportunities here. Mexicans constantly risk their lives to get here. People run here all the time- especially if they know we'll take them. That just isn't evidence they would have been killed, Nadine.

I remember my history pretty well Nadine. Find me some facts since you are so knowledgeable. I am NOT aware of millions being killed in Vietnam. If you can find some actual FACTS on that, then we can take it as history. Your adamant belief absent proof is not necessarily history.
