But I'm highly suspicious of rich folks simply writing checks to make up for their lavish and environmentally unfriendly lifestyles. I don't care what they call it. Purchasing "carbon credits" is an all-too-convenient way for them to keep their lifestyles while at the same time telling the us to drastically alter ours.

There are countless rich folk who do their thing and don't make any effort to provide offsets. Doesn't that make what Gore is doing at least somewhat positive? After all, the offsets are real and beneficial.
