Don't forget the enemy of my enemy is my friend thing... The extremists will attract all the fringe groups from Sioux Pal to Wharf Rat. They will convert in a heart beat over the global warming issue.

To RCG re #5404-
You wrote- "The person who sees no where left to turn and is being told he is unwelcome in his land of residency, even identified by a 'nuke em' all' comment, or a 'soon there will be no Moslems' comment ... gives me cause for worry. They may be driven deep into the secret life of a terror cell or they may just act out on their own." -I see this type of opinion here on this thread from a few posters. I maintain that the reasons for extremism are rooted in a deeply ingrained totalitarian ideology, not what we do or say. Yes there will always be vulnerable few psychos who are suceptible to taking up a cause for that reason, but they are only a handful, and us changing our lifestyles because of it, or editing what we say is plain ridiculous. Can they do damage? Yes, but not the kind of damage that threatens us as a culture. And if we are planning a military move against radicals somewhere, I would hope nothing would be said prior.

It's counterproductive for us to think we somehow are responsible for this. Dinesh D'Souza's recent book, the Enemy at Home, maintains that the left is somehow responsible for the jihad. There are many that dispute this, myself included. I can post links to articles if you are interested. A big problem is that the repositories of credible information on the "why the radicals are what they are" are not publicized, or worse, discredited by the PC crowd as "racist".

Also, you write "The 'War on Terror' has accurately been clarified as a war on extremism by Bush". I disagree there. The marketing sucks. It's a war against RADICAL ISLAM. I believe the gov't calls it a war on terror because we all fear violence and that cuts right to it. If we do not neutralize RADICAL ISLAM, it will keep coming. So, if it knows no borders, to use your words, why are we only fighting this war in Iraq and Afghanistan? And, "We are doing lots to address Muslim militancy"- what lots are we doing?
