Without his maverick status, McCain is a fairly ordinary politician with a good sense of humor but a short fuse with his temper. His main hope is that Giuliani stumbles when his liberal social positions and erratic personal history are really pushed to the fore. It's possible if not likely that McCain hired the hatchet-men who did him in back in 2000 to go after Giuliani the same way. That would be the final nail in the coffin of the ex-maverick-become-Bush-clone.
