I can't agree, the NYTimes is not anti american. Nor do I accept your view that "socialist principles" have failed everywhere. You know, I was talking with a Canadian doctor last year that was working for NASA. She was heading a research team on a one year contract. It had something to do with muscles. In any case, I asked her about Canada's universal health care system and which did she think was better. She laughed and said the moment she gets sick in America she's heading home. She said if you've got the money, then America offers some of the best healthcare in the world. She said Canada, however, offers "good, solid" healthcare for everyone. She said in the U.S., she's seen limbs amputated that in Canada would have been saved. Chopping off a foot or arm can be cheaper than trying to save it. But if you've got the dough, then you're okay. She said the Canadian medical system has its faults, but, again, she wasn't sticking around America if she were to fall ill.

Hasn't he enlarged government more than any other previous president. And hasn't government debt grown astronomically high. Republicans give bigger government, bigger debt and more war dead. Look at the economy at the end of the Reagan/Bush Sr. era, huge debt, lots of dead american. And at the end of Clinton era, no debt, few dead american.... Oh yeah, and all the while there's Gingrich moralizing to all of American.... Peter, maybe you should do a reapraisal of your leadership choices...
