WAG is that Keitel was referencing the Motorola news last quarter

Could be. That's one thing I'd like to know. If that was it, hindsight reveals a miscalculation. The news came out on Monday 11/13/06. The week after the announcement, the stock closed 75 cents higher than it was the week before the announcement. Not likely to raise any eyebrows. finance.yahoo.com

So I hope it wasn't all about QCT as a tertiary source for MOT's WCDMA efforts.

what information are you looking for?
Some of us ( I count at least two) are still pitifully speculating against the gathering GSM/EDGE/TD-SCDMA tide in China, sensing a real need for Qualcomm not to get closed out. That's something I'd like to hear about. Paul tossed us a bone a few months ago... CDMA450 "doing very well in China", I think it was. Not a word about TD-SCDMA negotiations with the Chinese since maybe 2005 ( "we have IPR"). Oh, yeah... Paul said something a couple of months ago about offering to help with network compatibilities and being turned down. Should I expect that we're doing OK with China's gov't, or expect zippo, as in "there's nothing in the numbers for 3G in China" and "I've quit guessing" ? Impossible to believe Qualcomm is actually so dead passive on it, after getting slaughtered 500 to 36 in mobile so far (including PAS). I'd at least like to know what to expect from the China JV TD-S licensees in China. (I know... expect 4.7% unless xyz)

Buyback cash could just as well be sidelined in advance of bad news as good, although it's unlikely that would be spoken about. Still, I'd kind of like to have some clarity about which way the secret wind is blowing. Seems if things don't get defined at conference calls, no answers to obvious important questions are forthcoming. Though I have to admit that since others say they get not much back, I haven't written to IR about anything besides Mr. Batchelder's team allowing Mr. Lee to tap dance all over our good Dr. Lee's head. And I wish I knew why Mr. Lupin sold so much stock on Feb. 20, but I know they can't tell me that. Probably something about real estate or orphans. Two more beers and I'll have it figured.
