So I assume you have combed through Motorola's balance sheet and identified any possible odd increases that could be from Intel? And how would future obligations for milestone payments show up in this balance sheet combing? What about subsidies for trials and expenses for trialing the system? These have not occcurred yet, but if Intel is picking up the tab they would not show up on the Balance Sheet in any case.

There are plenty of people that get paid to comb through balance sheets and nobody has mentioned anything. Dont you think that bondholders of Sprint might have noticed a huge cash infusion?

If it is some other sort of financing, why wouldnt Sprint mention it? Do you think they enjoy having their stock price get killed and some of their executives get fired (Lauer)? There has been substantial speculation that Forsee might lose his job as well, and yet he is just sitting on news that Sprint managed to get huge subsidies for WiMAX...that may make sense to you, but it doesnt to me.

It isnt even like you have to look hard for an explanation for Sprint's choice. Qualcomm's technologies simply didnt meet their requirements. Sprint wanted a standardized technology that would meet the nominal definition of 4G. That means 20MHz channels, OFDM and some sort of IEEE standard. Flarion's OFDM technology isnt standardized and uses smaller channels and UMB is two years late for Sprint's rollout.
