He has made America a lot weaker, economically, militarily, and in terms of global respect from other countries (former or current allies).


The Bush economy has been as strong as the Clinton economy. It's just way less reported. I would argue that the military is not weaker - what an army looses from being used, it gains in experience and learning. Battle hardened troops are always worth far more that troops who have only drilled in peacetime.

As for the losing the respect of other countries, remember that "respect" and "popularity" are different concepts. We have lost popularity. We would have lost respect if we had backed down to Saddam Hussein. I don't think we will lose respect in from Iraq, unless we cut and run. Perseverance is important in geopolitical affairs. Nobody wants to risk anything to be the ally of a power who will run the other way at the next election cycle.
