We were comparing the Inuit to the Viking. The Inuit survived in the Arctic because they ate lots of fat from marine mammals, and used seal oil for lamps. They still love that raw whale blubber today.

The Vikings may have had codfish, but humans can't live on just codfish. So they went bust when the climate changed and farming declined. They could have survived in Greenland if they had adopted Inuit survival methods, but I think they didn't like raw whale blubber.
