When my wife first moved here, sometimes she would get stuck for a word. When that happened, she took the German word and gave it an English form. It almost always worked.

You guys seem to forget the rich vocabulary of 10,000s of words of Latin origin, which via French and the Norman conquerors of the British Isles merged into what we now know as the English language.
