What is the standard deviation of the difference between analyst estimates and actual earnings in the past 3 years?

I don't know the answer, but I bet it's a lot better than the late 90's. I would say the same holds true for economic projections.

People will attribute it to a new era, I do not, but it's clearly undeniable.

In the world we live in today, analyst estimates are as good as any.
