"Did Newt commit a crime?" Running around on all of his wives (at the very same time he was braying loudly in public about Clinton's extra-marital sexual escapade)? Nah... I don't think that either having affairs, or displaying hypocrisy like that, is a criminal matter. "...Did he lie to a federal investigator or to a grand jury?" No... believe that is Scooter Libby you must be thinking of. (Of course, no Grand Jury or federal investigator was ever asked to question Gingrich about any of this --- so we'll never know if he would have 'fudged' his answers, if asked, or not. :-)
